Data recovery is the process of retrieving deleted or inaccessible data from failed electronic storage media such as computer hard disk drives, removable media, optical devices and tape cartridges.
Your data can become inaccessible due to a software problem, computer virus, mechanical or electrical malfunction or a deliberate human act.
No matter how hard you try to protect your data, your system may still fall victim to data loss. There are steps you can take to keep your data loss from becoming a data disaster.
There are basically two ways of retrieving lost or inaccessible data from your damaged media.
1. If your media (hard drives, CD media, Compact flash cards, etc.) is physically damaged (flood, fire, etc.) or contains very valuable information you should follow these steps.
2. If your media (hard drives, CD media, Compact flash cards, etc.) is logically damaged (computer virus, data corruption, etc.) and contains not so valuable information you should follow these steps.
